Bublacowie Military Museum

The Bublacowie Military Museum is owned by Chris Soar, a Vietnam Veteran. He began the museum after the closing of the Bublacowie school which started 100 years ago. He and his wife (Enid) built the museum by themselves and the museum istelf is worth over 2 million dollars.

What captured my eye in the museum is the AK-47 Assault Rifle. The AK-47 was built in Izhevsk's Mechanical works in 1947. The AK-47 originates in Warsaw, Poland and other Soviet states. Over 100 Million AK-47's have been built since its manufacturing. The gun weighs 3.8 kg, is 870 mm long with a barrel length of 415 mm, It can hold 30 rounds that are 7.62 x 39 mm. The gun operates in a rotating bolt which is gas operated. It has a Rate of Fire of 600 RPM and is effective at up to 300 m.

This gun has vastly effected war & has shown great power to communist countries. When i think of a communist country at war, i imagine them all using AK-47's. I find that it is a sybol f power, communism and destruction throughout war. It has become one of the greatest, most feared and most praised weapons in the world. This helps me describe what i beleive war to be, the men with 'AK's' against the rest.

Self Reflection:

I am about to venture on what is sure to be the longest, most thrilling and challenging events of my life. My duffle bag is almost ready for departure and i think about all the things i will miss wen im gone. Im sure that this time will be a great experience for any 15 year old going to war. Although i cannot leave without thinking of my family, the progress of economics and my education. I will miss my Mother, who dearly regrets allowing me to leave, my Father who supports my every move. These people made me in to the an i am about to become. Although the question is whether being a man and fighting for my country is worth what i am about to partake in.
